2025urban design
An outdoor event for children designed to nurture creativity and self-expression through play, including drawing with chalk on the street and making mechanical toys.
The venue was a covered waterway managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Sewerage.
Slightly dim and with limited pedestrian traffic, the space had long faced issues such as street smoking.
The event was organized with the aim of bringing brightness to the area and transforming it into a lively, community-oriented gathering space open to local residents.
As a result, more than 200 children and families participated, revealing both the strong demand for play spaces within residential neighborhoods and the potential value of activating underutilized urban spaces.
